SocialHRCamp Austin 2024

We are ecstatic to be adding 2 new cities to the SocialHRCamp family, Charleston, South Carolina and Austin, Texas. The date of the event is Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 5-9pm ET. Since our first SocialHRCamp in May 2012, our events have provided invaluable learning opportunities for the Community – hands-on and experiential learning on the “how to” of HR and Recruitment. Past event themes have been related to HR strategy, diversity, equity and inclusion, HR technology, generative AI, employer branding, recruitment strategy, and more.

Artificial Intelligence, better known as AI, is playing a major role in how we operate our organizations. AI is impacting everything from Human Resources to Recruiting to Finance to Sales to Marketing, and everything in between. The theme for SocialHRCamp Austin 2024 is “Building Future-Ready Workplaces: Navigating the AI Revolution”. We will explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and the future of work. Attendees from diverse industries will gather to gain valuable insights and strategies for building workplaces that will be well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the AI revolution. We will cover a variety of topics from implementing AI into HR and Recruitment strategies and practices to ensuring your organization is ready to adopt and leverage AI to creating a culture of innovation and agility. Within HR and Recruitment, we are still very much in the early days of effectively adopting AI into our organizations. For many HR/Recruitment leaders and practitioners who will attend SocialHRCamp Austin 2024 will be the first step in the “AI Adoption Journey”.

In this session, we will take a look at the employee lifecycle and discuss ways to improve and enhance the employee experience at each stage with the help of AI and the optimization of our HR Tech Stacks.

Nearly one in four organizations reported using automation or AI to support HR-related activities, including recruitment and hiring, according to a 2022 survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). According to Gartner research, 76% of HR leaders believe that if their organization does not adopt and implement AI solutions, such as generative AI, in the next 12 to 24 months, they will be lagging in organizational success compared to those that do. In this session, we’ll touch on broad uses for AI in HR and Recruiting, but talk more specifically about practical uses for generative AI (GenAI) tools like Chat-GPT that can support your daily tasks. Digitizing Talent author and Workology founder Jessica Miller-Merrell will walk through real-world examples of how to write prompts that deliver what you need to work faster and smarter.

Session focus areas:

Understanding what and how to ask generative AI tools to get the best results.

How to use Chat-GPT to assist you with everything from candidate outreach to offer letters to HR policies and internal emails.

How to structure your generative AI prompts so that you can get information without disclosing proprietary information (and company policy recommendations for GenAI usage).

How to be the expert on your team for using Chat-GPT as a tool for productivity.

As AI automates talent acquisition, what risks does the latest tech pose to candidate assessment and company culture? This immersive session explores keeping the human central to our future-ready workplaces. Gain a balanced approach integrating AI efficiency with uniquely human strengths: personable connections, upholding ethics, and accountability. Walk away with practical frameworks for responsible AI adoption that enhance human judgment, sustain your employment brand, and build innovative, human-attuned organizations. Whether in HR, Talent, or technology, you'll get actionable steps for cross-functional collaboration, shaping a human-centric workplace amid the AI revolution.

AI is everywhere we look. I’m even using ChatGPT to generate ideas for this breakout session’s title and description. Some of your employees are most assuredly tinkering with AI, and some of them most assuredly are not. How do you address this? What is HR’s role in ensuring equitable, thoughtful, and responsible adoption of these new tools? In this breakout session, we’ll dive into how to start, some key considerations and pitfalls, and how to foster a culture of responsible AI usage.
